Muscle does burn more, but to raise your daily BMR by 100 kcal, you'd need to add 7–8 kg of pure muscle. And adding even 1 kg of muscle is itself extremely hard.

Same weight, different metabolism

Someone who does high-intensity weight training at the gym and also moves a lot in daily life has a higher resting metabolic rate (RMR) even at the same body weight.

That's because their muscle mitochondrial activity, insulin sensitivity, and the activation level of their energy metabolism pathways are different.
